Here Kitty Kitty

For Rylie's 4th birthday party she decided on a Hello Kitty theme aka Kitty Kitty is what Rylie calls it. We had her party on Saturday at Jump in Southaven. (more on that later) Usually when we have it at the house we go all out so I felt like I needed to give it a little personal touch. I saw these Hello Kitty cookies on a website and thought "I could do that"! I did have some doubts but Keith reassured me that we could do it! And we did! Rylie loved them and we did too!
Before

After

Let me warn you there's a lot of pictures to follow but I don't want to leave any of it out!

Always happy to help in the kitchen!

Rolling out the cookie dough!
Here is a tulip cookie cutter bent to look like a kitty! I read it on someones blog and it worked perfectly!

Rolling out the fondant. I have never worked with fondant and it was a workout! I used just white store bought fondant.

Taking shape!

Artist at work! He drew the eyes and whiskers on with a edible writing pen.

Pink fondant used for the bow out of a dog bone cookie cutter.

Last piece left is the yellow nose used with yellow fondant.

wouldn't be complete without wrapping with pink ribbon of course!

Finished product!
We were up late Friday night baking and preparing these but they were totally worth it! The sugar cookie recipe I used (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/The-Best-Rolled-Sugar-Cookies/Detail.aspx) was the best I have ever worked with and eaten! I also learned to use powder sugar when rolling them out and the same goes with fondant. I used light corn syrup to "glue" the fondant to the cookie. I used water (thanks Erica for the tip) to glue the bow and nose to the kitty face. Overall I am very excited of how they turned out and that they weren't just cute but good to eat!
